Kayak Rentals near Plattekill

What a lovely and easy experience! I rented a kayak for an hour and saw wonderful views on a fall day and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to go out again before the weather gets too cold.

Our group had an awesome time during our 2 hr booking and I would gladly come back to this spot in the future—very reasonable prices and a beautiful spot for kayaking.

Two moms and 4 kids ages 11-15, all amateur kayakers. This was fantastic! Very easy booking and great experience overall. We did this on a weekday so social distancing was no problem. You can see their disinfecting set up and boats were very clean & bug free. Beautiful views! Just make sure kayaks in your group don’t leave shore until they explain the shape of the river and landmarks that indicate when it’s halfway and time to turnaround.

Craig makes the kayaking experience smooth and easy, while keeping the boats moving. Add local recommendations and a well-maintained craft, quality overall experience!

Perfect place for those who already know how to use a paddle. Calm and still water, quiet surroundings. A++

Easy reservation online and beautiful day to be out on the water. Everything was provided and they gave tips for which direction to go depending on what one wanted to see. First time trying kayaking, but definitely will try it again.

My experience was AMAZING. Craig is a saint (thank you again)! My wife and I chose a canoe. He asked us a few questions and recommended the tandem kayak after finding out that I’m terrified of boats. He said that the tandem kayak had better stability and would therefore provide a more comfortable experience.

I calmed down and had so much fun!

The only thing I’d recommend is going when it’s cloudy/ not extremely sunny. You can get cooked!

I have always wanted to go kayaking and finally got to experience it today with friends! We had an overall amazing time and Craig was super nice and very helpful in teaching us how to get started. The scenery was beyond beautiful and the water was very nice and calm. My friends and I were very thankful for the experience and already want to go again!

My friends and I had a fantastic time kayaking with New Paltz Kayaking! It’s a really nice river and good, clean equipment. The owners are absolutely lovely too. We arrived at closing and they still let us go out for an hour, which was incredibly cool of them. Really great experience over all, I highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I took out a tandem kayak. The view was stunning, the people there were very friendly and it was a fair price. I was going to book in advance, but did not as the weather was unpredictable. We showed up randomly and were able to go out right away. There are a bunch of tables right by the river where you can bring lunch. It was overall a great experience and I highly recommend this location for a nice peaceful day out.

A great spot for some peaceful and beautiful kayaking!!! Craig was super helpful getting us set up and showing us what we needed to know, he even gave us some great recommendations for hiking spots to check out!!

Forget about hauling your own kayak…they are equipped with all you need!! Craig was very easy going, taught us how to properly use the oars and gave us a few safety tips. In less than 15 minutes, we were out on the Walkill River and had a great time. Serene with great views!! We will coming back!!

Craig at New Paltz outfitted our foursome last Friday. Craig treated us well and was supportive and positive all day.

Craig was the only outfitter out of 15 that we called who would open up for us and provide great service on a Friday this time of year.

The individuals in our group came from a range of paddle backgrounds. Our illustrator friend from NYC, Tom Lintern, had not paddled a single sit-in kayak before. Craig gave our friend a super useful 4 minute clinic on the ins and outs of paddling a craft equal parts technical and recreational.

Everything worked out great! Tom was killing the S-curves all day.

We rented 6 kayaks as a family, and had a blast on the Wallkill. Craig is very friendly, and helped everyone feel comfortable. Our group ranged from age 5 – 71, and this was an excellent family bonding experience. On another day, we rented bikes from Craig through the River 2 Trail in New Paltz, making stops along Water Street Market and Wallkill Market.

Add all of these destinations to your weekend adventure in New Paltz, and you’ll definitely make memories together! Highly recommended.
