Rockclimbing Ulster County
Rock climbing and bouldering require the use of technical rock climbing equipment and safety gear. This gear includes ropes, bolts (in select areas), rock climbing shoes, harnesses, and helmets. Rock climbers can bring their own equipment, if they don’t they have chances to rent or purchase gear from local climbing schools, guide services, or equipment rental locations located nearby in Towson of New Paltz. Gardiner, or Rosendale.
Rock climbers should dress appropriately for their chosen climbing location by dressing in layers to accommodate the range of temperatures that they will encounter at various elevations. Climbers should make sure to bring plenty of snacks and fresh drinking water to help them stay energized and hydrated during your climb. Remember that everything brought into the Shawangunk Mountains must be brought back out again to help keep the natural beauty of the mountains pollution-free. We can only keep these beautiful mountains clean if we all work together.
